A local number for your state
The short answer
What is a Frontly phone number?
A Frontly phone number is a dedicated, standard Australian landline number for your state, connected to your AI receptionist. It is allocated to your business for as long as your subscription is active. It is a voice-only number: callers dial it like any local number and reach your AI receptionist, and your AI agent uses it for its outbound calls. In phone-industry terms it is a DID, or Direct Inward Dialling, number.
The problem
Callers look at the number before they ring
A local area code tells a caller you are nearby and reachable. Setting up a separate business line usually means another provider, another contract and a phone system to manage, before your receptionist has answered a single call.
Frontly allocates a local number for your state during setup, already connected to your AI receptionist.
Local to your state
A number from your state, aiming for your capital city
When you sign up, you tell us which state or territory your business is in. Frontly allocates a number from its pool for that region and aims for your capital city where one is available, such as a Brisbane 07 number for a Queensland business. The number is allocated for you rather than picked from a list.
- 02 for NSW and the ACT, 03 for Victoria and Tasmania
- 07 for Queensland, 08 for South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory
- A capital-city number where one is available

Your business number
Use it as your business number
The simplest way to start: make your Frontly number your business number. Put it on your website, Google Business Profile, business cards and advertising, and every call goes straight to your AI receptionist. Already have a number your customers know? You can forward its calls to your Frontly number instead.
- Callers dial it like any local landline
- Answered by your AI receptionist, day and night
- The number your AI agent uses for its outbound calls

How allocation works
Allocated to you for as long as your subscription is active
Your number comes from Frontly's pool of Australian numbers, so it may have been used by another organisation before. While your subscription is active, it is allocated to your business alone. When your service ends, the number is released back to the pool.
- Exclusive to your business while you are subscribed
- From Frontly's pool, so it may have been used before
- Released back to the pool when your service ends
Allocated while your subscription is active
